RE: Tesco bans pjs!
hang on a minute.. what about the girls going in there on a friday night to get their bottle of vodka before they go clubbing? surely earing a belt as a skirt or a pair of tiny little shorts with a tiny little top is more offensive than pj's that cover everything! In the summer there are loads of people walking around in shorts and a vest top but no one complains about that! its rediculous! some people have better things to do than get glammed up for the weekly shop!

I think its so lazy to go out to the shops in your pj's, I have two young kids but wouldn't even think about going out in my pj's.

umm block capitals are certainly the most intelligible way to get a point across.
surely its up to Tesco what they think is acceptable for their store? you don't have an automatic right to shop there and if all their asking is that people don't wear pajamas and wear shoes then i don't see the problem. how lazy a person have you got to be to not be bothered to get dressed.
I don't understand why the women in your story said that she took the effort to wear nice pajamas, why not just get dressed?
Ladies if your that worried buy a pair of joggers and some t-shirts then no one knows if you've just rolled out of bed or not.

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
I have too agree. why cant you be bothered to just put some clothes on!! no wonder divorce is so high if people give up on there appearance and cant be bothered just throwing on some jeans and a t-shirt!! tesco's are not asking for you to do your whole hair and make up!!!
kids are not an excuse to give up on your appearance and the only excuse for wearing pjs in the supermarket is if it is the middle of the night. There are really problems going on in the world! get over it.
Look at the women in the pic, just a typical chav!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
So say for instant that fashion gurus start launching clothes that look like PJS, and it becomes the latest in trend. Everyone will like sheep go out and buy the look. will tescos kick out every single person who starts wearing clothes that look like nightwear??!
No they would bl**dy sell it wouldnt they!!
Fashions can be normal or way out, what is classed as bedwear for some may be normal every day clothing for others.
I mean Jordan in a lurex pink tracksuit and black fake hair extensions, I'd sooner kick that out of tescos for putting me off my shopping than some poor woman who happens to have a pair of andy pandy trousers on and a baggy t shirt!

i can understand having them asking you to wear footwear for health and saftey reasons. but pjs, you can say its lazy but its hardly different from make up is it..! it was only shopping, hardly a night out on the town. what do all the other supermarkets think about this.? now a days you cant even be naked in your home and go past a window. we were all born naked, so pjs are hardly going to hurt anyone! its a free world if the people wont to wear pjs around LET THEM..!!!!!!!!

Isn't it quite unhygenic to sleep in your pjamas, then go out in them, then go sleep in them again? Walking around tesco and outside in your slippers aswell? It just seems really lazy and unhygenic, even if you dont have time cos you have kids, you should at least make time to change into some day clothes.

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
It shouldn't even be up for debate, you get up, wash and put clothes on, not go out in pyjamas. As a headmaster commented when parents starting coming to his school in pyjamas to drop off/collect kids, you wouldn't go to see your bank manager in pyjamas, so why would you go to any other public place in them, what slobs!!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
Me personally...I do it all the time! When i just wanna run out to the shops in my car when I'm having a lazy weekend after being at work all week!!
Most of my friends do it too; and it's not really a matter of being lazy to get dressed, what's the difference if you aint been in the shower yet?
Hmmm...go in your PJ's to run in Tesco's and get a few bits or put fresh clothes on a unwashed skin! I dunno!??
Shouldn't really be an issue though...some people take life too seriously...SO WHAT!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
Pyjamas are for bed time!! The only reason that grown women (or men) can get away with wearing clothes with bears or penguins on them is that no one is supposed to see them!!! Whether you have been at work all week or not you put some proper clothes on and some shoes and act like a normal functioning human being!! It's ridiculous, I agree there should be no issue because people should not be going anywhere in their pj's in a rush, on a day off or whatever full stop!

LOL
Forgive me if Im wrong but I thought PJs are for bed time? I really dont care about the Tescos dress code thing but wearing ur pjs to go shopping is like wearing ur office clobber to bed?!
Im hoping the comment 'I've worn my best ones today, just so I look tidy.' Is tounge and cheek otherwise this woman is completly dirranged and most probably didnt get barred from Tescos cos of her dress sence probaby just her lack of SENCE!

I think it just shows how standards have slipped over the last few (and it is really only a few) years...
I was always taught that it was rude to eat, drink or smoke on the street, now everyone you see walking round town has a Greggs paper bag attached to their mush - along with the obligatory pasty crumbs! The streets are awash with pop cans, empty food & drink cartons and fag ends!
Wearing your night attire to do the grocery shopping is just another step down the rungs...
BTW I'm not exactly of pensionable age yet!
It's totally skanky... YUK!!!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
This woman is downright lazy. There are women out there who have kids, go to work every day and still have the time and decency to put some clothes on. She's nothing short of a tramp. I'd also love to know how shes got £100 to spend in tesco, when she cant even sacrifice £2 to buy a bottle of shampoo.......

No its not unhygenic, some people are just unhygenic anyway whatever they wear, is Tescos going to stop and search every single person now in case they dont agree with what they are wearing?!!
This is very undemocratic, why dont they check how many people have trod in something like dog doo before picking on someone with pjs on?!!!

Yes, it is unhygenic. The whole point of pj's are that you wear them in bed so they are clean and uncontaminated from outside. It's also extremely slobbish. If she can make the effort to wear her "best" pjs, she can make the effort to put on clothes. It's not like they're even asking customers to put on a whole face of makeup and look perfectly groomed, just have some dignity and self-respect rather than looking like the dustbin man from sesame street! What a terrible example to set for the children too, she get up 10 minutes earlier so she has time to properly look after the kids rather than rush them round in her pjs.

omg i cant believe all this fuss about wearing pj's! what happened to this being a free country, i love my pj's and although i personally wouldn't wear them out i wouldn't be bothered if i saw someone wandering round tesco in them, in fact id probably be quite amused. theres more important things to worry about, so i say if you want to wear your pj's go for it!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
Oh for f*ck's sake. Yes, wearing PJs isn't as bad as some of the so called clothing people wear a lá Jordan etc. , but even so there is no excuse for being too busy to get dressed. Okay, so I don't care if people show up in pajamas, but I'm quite shocked that anyone would want to. So, no don't ban people, but please where some clothes.

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
wearing pjs makes me assume that you have not had a wash hence why would you wash then put on pjs to go out when you could easily get dressed plus it takes the same amount of time to get your clothes on ,it is lazy and i think lowers the tone of the person wearing them in public, it shows that you dont respect yourself enough in order to take the time to get dressed,
why do you think pj were made precisely to wear to bed , dont get me wrong if your indoors thats fine but out in public wear your clothes with pride, tesco were definitely right to ban

OK first to admit that I have done this....went to Tescos in my 'lounge wear' basically my Pj's......but you know what i dont care what you think of me...why ? Because I am happy and secure enough in my marriage and my job ( yes i have a job and a good paying one thanks) I dress smart every day for work, have my hair smart and make up on 7 days a week 12 hours a day so what if i want to relax and wear what I want I am not there to impress anyone I am there to do my bloody shopping!

I would never go shopping in my PJ's but I have admit my PJ's & Uggs are probably cleaner, tidier & better fitted than some of the clothes the "chavy" people wear in my local ASDA. I definately look better in PJ than some people do in their dirty trampy clothes.
Tesco should get over themselve tho, who cares what people wear to go shopping.

I actually work in the Tesco in Newcastle i think its a good idea to bring in rules about what people should wear. Wearing pj's is so unhygenic and it makes the individual look cheap and nasty. Get a grip if people dont like it dont shop in the store. Some places do have standards.

Hi actually you will see i said lounge wear. yes they are like Pj's but with one difference I do not sleep in them - They are from Fat Face and are baggy cotton trousers with a somewhat strange design I must admit....I no doubt than smell better than a lot of people on a hot summers day on the tube in London thats for sure...but seriously i do not understand everyones aversion to this. Think about it logically. You get up sat morning have a shower and put what you classify as comfy's ( Jeans are not my idea of comfortable in comparison to baggy cotton trousers) on as you plan on doing house work or some such thing... you suddenly realise you need that product you ran out of to do the cleaning so you pop to tescos....do you serioulsy mean i have to get changed to pop out for 5 mins?? This is Tescos not Prada!
ps my humming is very good thanks! ;o)

Oh come on, is it really too much to ask to put some clothes on before you leave the house? And if you are in a 'rush' then why not get up 10 minutes earlier to throw on some trackies and a jumper? I quite agree with Tescos, and I do not see what the fuss is about, are people in Britain far to lazy to even get dressed?
Pathetic!

RE: Tesco bans pjs!
I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. At least pjs are more concealing than some clothes people wear to supermarkets. Why is it okay for women to shop in boob tubes and mini skirts and not pjs? It's another contradiction of what society dubs 'appropriate'
It's alright for men to take their tops off and girls to walk around in bikini tops but if a girl walks around in her bra it's taboo, which, lets be honest, often covers more than a boob tube.

I think that if you're going out some where you should atleast get dressed. You don't have to be suited and booted if you're going shopping but it doesn't take 5 minutes to pull on a pair of jeans and a t shirt!!
Its just pure laziness.
The charming lady pictured does look like a typical everyday chav mother who clearly doesn't go to work so its not like she doesn't have time to get dressed or wash her greasy lank hair. She has all day!
Us hard working tax payers manage to get up get washed and dressed get the kids to school and then go to work.... Whereas this scrubbers day consists of lounging around smoking fags on a piss soaked sofa watching Jeremy Kyle and then dragging her smelly arse off to the shops wearing the piss soaked PJ'S she was obviously born in
