Mary Bales put a cat in a bin for 15 hours Mary Bales put a cat in a bin for 15 hours

Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Wednesday 25 August 2010

An inquiry is underway after shocking CCTV images captured a woman dumping a cat into a wheelie bin.

The cats owners private CCTV camera caught grey-haired Mary Bale stopping to stroke Lola, the four-year-old tabby before grabbing her by the neck and dropping her into a wheelie bin, only to close the lid and walk off without any remorse.

Lola was found only after owner Stephanie Andrews-Mann and her husband Darryl heard tiny meows coming from the bin – an astonishing 15 hours later. Stephanie told The Sun “I find the entire thing sickening. I cannot believe someone would do this to an innocent family pet.”

The RSPCA and West Midland police are investigating the incident, calling the woman’s actions “appalling” but Mary Bale, who was named today, admitted dumping the puss into the bin but insisted to The Sun “I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s just a cat.”

The incident sparked outrage online, with one upset user even posting “This woman should be murdered.”

When questioned by The Sun reporters, Bale laughed and exclaimed, “I really don’t see what everyone is getting so excited about  - I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I think everyone’s overreacting a bit.”

Do you think everyone is overreacting or should Mary Bale face the consequences?

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Just a cat???!!!!!!!! I'm disgusted by the attitude of some people that think that because they are more intelligent than a species it gives them the right to treat them any way they choose.

Lets just say ..for arguments sake that a more intelligfent race than humans were on earth and started putting babies in bins - saying "well theyre only humans - we are far more intelligent than them" - how would that one feel?

We have a GREATER responsibility to treat animals kindly BECAUSE we are more intelligent - NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

It is beyond comprehension. It is the kind of thing a child would do prior to having developed a social conscience (around 11). It is scary to think what other 'jokes' she has played in her 50 something years. They say sociopaths often hurt animals - let's just hope she is never entrusted to look after a child. She is lucky the cat survived - I wonder if it even crossed her mind that it could have been thrown into the jaws of the rubbish truck? I reckon she would have been lynched if that had happened. I think the most sickening thing is she is actually petting the animal first. It completely goes against the grain. The woman is beneath contempt and is obviously a rather mentally ill individual.

I think she should be locked in a wheelie bin for 15 hours as some sort of punishment just so she knows what it feels like!!!!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

I don't know what's worse, what she did to a defenceless cat, or the fact she thinks it's all a joke, and doesn't know what the fuss is about. I think it says a lot about her mind set. I just hope if she has grandchildren, they are never left alone with her, she's obviously off her trolley. Either that or
just plain evil.

Obiously she is a woman of low intelligence!!! no excuse, she ought to be punished.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

ok this is abit abnormal, but it is just a cat, from a race that eats, cows, pigs , sheep, chickens etc it all seems a bit hypocrital. Maybe she did do it as a joke, she might be mental but comparing a cat and a grandchild is a bit ridiculous. And saying she should be murdered? lol the cat didn't die, she should just do community service for a week in the town or something :) and write a letter of a apology to the family :)

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

OK uglymug I can just imagine your house with your cows, pigs, sheep and chicken lying on your bed, sleeping on you lap while you 'pet' them!!! Are you completely missing the point??? It was pure animal cruelty and for no reason whatsoever and how the hell do you think a letter of apology would help??? just ridiculous.

what she has done is quite simply Animal cruelty which is illegal she should be arrested simple as. and for this stupid cow to think that what she done was ever gonna be seen as funny needs her head tested...weirdo!!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

whether you like cats or not, this was a very cruel thing to do. i watched the video, and it was done in pure evil, not as a joke. she should be punished for it, at the end of the day that animal is part of someones family, and i know as an animal owner that pets can become as close to people as a brother or sister... i love my cat so much, and if anyone had done this to my cat i would go and personally dump her in a wheelie bin and throw in a few hungry rats!!!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

I agree! What that poor cat went through must have been so traumatic. You can see how affectionate and trusting the cat was to begin with - leaning in for a stroke. Imagine then being suddenly yanked up by the neck and hurled all the way into a wheelie bin...that's quite a drop for something so small! To be plunged into darkness - completely confused and helpless for 15 hours.....awful - how could anybody think that "funny"!??! She's twisted and evil. The same thing should be done to her - ugly sick bitch! See how she likes it! God this has made me so angry!!!!!! :@

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

We may well rear and then kill cows, pigs and chicken for their meat but it is done in such a way where very strict laws are in place about how the animal is killed so not to cause any unnessary pain or suffering (before people start posting horror stories about this not being the case, go do your research on livestock and farming laws). And this cat was not live stock, it was a family pet. To those who agree with the comments `its just a cat`, it was not just a cat to its owner and that does not give a person a right to cause suffering and upset to someone elses family and pet.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

This makes me feel awful every time I see the poor cat picked up by the scruff of the neck then dumped in the bin...she is unhinged to think this is 'funny'. She has hard eyes and shows no repentance, only annoyance at being caught. No-one has mentioned this as far as I know but what if the refuse collection lorry had come to empty the bins? The cat would have been killed for sure and the poor owners would never have known where their cat had gone. Funny? No Mary love, you are....in the head.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

I have a pet, a dog in fact, and i know cats can be vicious things as ALL animals can, and im not saying it's right, or its funny what she done. im saying you're all saying how horrible this is, but most of you probably eat meat, chicken? well they're trapped in cages for the whole of their lives, some of them. This woman must have mental problems, it is wrong, but what's a prison sentence going to do, the cat did not die, and for the record, they're not all that intelligent anyway. It IS wrong, but so much fuss over a cat? different if it was a baby or something, but it's a cat. jeez.

Anyone defending Mary Bale on this page or saying "it's just a cat" or "its a joke" should be thrown into a giant wheely bin themselves unexpectedly for 15hours...then see if you're still laughing!

but come on she aint all there!!!!
the cat is alive (just)...but if she wasnt in a good mood that day who's to say that it wouldnt be today.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

lol, so for someone saying it's just a cat they should be thrown into a wheelie bin for 15 hours, are you actually that stupid? CATS AND HUMANS are completely different, fair enough if your an animal lover, but a human has more emotions than a cat, something like that probably wouldn't affect a cat a lot, seriously. She DOES need help, but saying she should be murdered, is extreme, jeez some people exaggerate so much, maybe the cat was like shitting in her garden, things like that would piss anyone off, she might have just got fed up, not justifying it, but it could be something thats led her to do it. or she might be a physco who caresss!! it's just another thing to bitch about.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Some humans have more emotions than other humans...do they deserve more human rights? What about severely mentally handicapped people...would it be appropriate to throw them in a bin?! Your argument is completely flawed so shut the hell up!!!

I had a cat that was put in a plastic bag along with the rest of her litter and thrown into a river. Thankfully she was rescued. My cat was so timid and scared and clearly traumatised for her entire life...only in her later years did she dare to venture outdoors and relax around people. She used to run and hide if she heard carrier bags rustling. It was truly heartbreaking and obviously a direct result of her appalling abuse.

So to say "something like that probably wouldn't affect a cat a lot" just shows how ignorant and small minded you really are!!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Miss Lucy I think uglymug has the same mental disorder as Mary Bale herself it's clear to me that this person has no feeling or emotions probably stemming from a lonely childhood if I were you I would ignore her I think she gets off on writing nonsense on here cos in real life is prob a loner with no friends (and hopefully no pets to abuse)!!!!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

hahaha this is so funny, i have a dog actually and i love him very much! :) I'm saying the comment about how she should be murdered is ridiculous, seriously, she's old she might have a mental problem. But all this fuss over a cat. I could understand if she maybe harmed the cat viciously, but i suspect the cat was maybe pissing her off and a lonely old woman might not care what happened to it. Read all the comments and what im actually saying other than judging the fact i might be sticking up for her. I'M NOT. Go ahead and keep swearing and judging me ;) your just wionding yourselves up :)

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Uglymug, I am wondering (as you love your own dog so much) how you would feel if you came home one day to find that some cretin had put your dog into a wheelie bin, and then you found out that not only had the poor mutt been whining in there for 15 hours, but that the perpetrator had done it for a joke, and found it hilarious - would you be so flippant about that? What you need to realise is that apart from this having been awful for the poor cat, her owners must be devastated.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Yeah but i don't think the woman should be murdered is what im saying, I'd go mental at the old woman did that to my dog, but just saying (dogs are a lot smarter than cats) known fact. Sure they have emotions, but my argument was that someone said, she shouldn't be aloud near children, well the difference between a child and a cat, is widely different. I'm liking how you put as you love your own dog so much, in brackets ;) lol.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

What the hell are you talking about dogs being smarter than cats?!?! That is not a "known fact"! Please direct me to the scientific evidence that proves this?! Oh wait there is none.....
It is, in fact, commonly believed that cats are more intelligent than dogs!! Go and Google it if you don't believe me.
I have owned both in my lifetime and from personal experience feel that cats are more intelligent. Not that either animal deserves to be put through what poor Lola was. NO LIVING CREATURE IS!!
Cat's are incredibly perceptive and intelligent. You clearly have no idea and are a complete idiot with a personal grudge against cats which is why you are so insensitive to this story and keep making untrue sweeping statements about them.
Of course Mary Bale doesn't deserve to be murdered - none of us are saying she is. I'm just sick of your sly digs against cats and disregard for this family's trauma. That's why you're annoying me!

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Yes Miss Lucy, I quite agree with you. I own both cats and dogs, and I would go as far as saying that every one of my cats is more intelligent than the dogs. In fact dogs can be decidedly dopey in comparison. (Have you noticed how the cats look at the dogs - down their noses like "We cats you know, are just sooo superior...Oh stupid, silly, doggy!!!) Anyway, back to the point...no animal deserves to be treated like that, it's disgusting and heartless. What upsets me every time I picture it, is that lovely little cat, nuzzling up to her for a love, and then her stroking it before yanking it up and then throwing it into the terrifying darkness. What also upsets me is that every time the owners pet little Lola, they will be picturing the same thing. It makes me cry to think of it, so it must be tearing them apart. Now quite what uglymugs problem is I don't know, but she really isn't seeing things as they are, obviously. Was it not uglymug who said "CATS AND HUMANS are completely different, fair enough if your an animal lover, but a human has more emotions than a cat," Well then why she is not recognising the distress that the family (all human presumably) are feeling right now? This is what I can't get my head around.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

Many current and previous proven studies have shown that sociopaths and psycopaths once used to hurt animals - small animals like cats and hamsters were most vulnerable (can't imagine the bullies attempting to take on a rottweiler!!!!).

They then went onto more sinister bullying and torture....children and adults at risk till they becoame seriel killers. I hope those who are children, young people, homeless, disabled and live near that scary bitch take care. It could be you mutilated and dumped in a skip.

Hip Hip Hooray! I heard on the news yesterday that Mary Bale has now been offically charged, and is due to appear at Coventry magistrates court in October sometime. It was only on the local news so I wasn't sure if you guys would know about it, and I thought you might like to know.

RE: Mary Bale throws cat into a wheelie bin

FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two adorable cats, we live near a main road so we keep them inside. If one of them gets out and we can't find her I get really upset, even tho she comes back after about an hour!

If that happened to me I would be sick with worry!

Poor Lola!

But on the other hand, if what her mom said is true about her liking cats usually, maybe something bad has happened to her and she has some kind of mental problem or something like that.

BUT IT'S STILL NO EXCUSE!

Never let that woman own animals!

Can I weigh in my opinion?
I have 2 cats of my own (gorgeous and very intelligent creatures-uglymug I'm not sure about that thing of cats being less smart than dogs...) and I am DISGUSTED. If she had done that to Gizmo or Snuggles, my cats, I would have ripped her f*ckin heart out.

However, I believe she may have a mental problem. They should give her a psychiatric assessment. If she's gone crazy, give her the keys to a padded room. If she's not, she's clearly an evil person-lock her up.
