A grieving businessman splashed out £15,000 on a life-size 'sex doll' which is a clone of his dead lover, it is claimed by a sex shop owner.

The 50-year-old reportedly brought in numerous photos of a blonde woman and asked for the 'dummy' to match her face and body.

Staff at the Tentazoni sex shop in Treviso, Italy, assume that live-size doll, which took 18 months to create, is meant to be a replica of the customer's dead lover.

Owner Diego Bortolin says: 'I'm sure there is a tragic story behind this. I'm sure the girl in question died as a result of some accident and the man was involved as well.'

Mr Bortolin and his staff assume that the unnamed man lost his lover in a tragic accident because he displayed scars 'from what looked like burns' on his face and arms and was crying when he showed the photographs.

The end result is a 9st doll with articulated joints, a titanium skeleton and life-like 'skin'.

'It is the most expensive doll we have ever sold', says Mr Bortolin. 'He was delighted with the finished product when I delivered it.'

maybe he was crying because they broke up?? because he has scars doesnt mean his lover died in a fire! they are assuming very broadly here! but if it is true it is a bit sick he needs to grieve and get over his loss rather then try to someone bring her back in the form of a doll!

To be honest you always hear stories about these dolls and if it makes the guy happy well, who are we to judge? I do agree it is quite a story to simply assume, for all we know it could be a long lost love or yes, simply an ex he cared about.

But hey, he's 50, it's his money and his life - if this is a loss, this may be his way of dealing with it, there is no set way to grieve. People buy the dolls for their own personal reasons (notice this entire story is claimed by the 'sex shop owner', not the man himself) so we should just accept it.

There are stranger stories out there, I don't see why this is so...shocking.
