Ever thought what it would be like to strut your stuff in a music video? No? Do you always revert to thinking about that stomach that could be just that teeny bit more toned?
Well never fear, Alexandra the great is here!
The 23-year-old singer bossed a very short and sequined pair of shorts, fashioning the flattest stomach, to shoot her new video and we find out how she does it…
The glamazon keeps her size-8 figure in shape by eating 9 meals a day - that's got to be some sort of record, surely!
The super-fit star refrains from eating large portions as she grazes often and on little meals to keep her metabolism high. She is a strong believer in finding a diet and exercise regime that suits you. Having battled with her weight in the past she has found a plan that works for her.
Although she prefers to set an example and steer clear of ‘size-zero’ she claims: “The pressure is there because you see these people who are so slim and it makes you feel insecure. But the way I'm built is with thighs and a bum. I'm bigger down here and smaller up here.
“You have to love what you are. If you're a curvaceous person, embrace that and love it. The moment you try to get involved in dieting regimes you can get lost and confused. If I've got a video coming up I will watch what I eat but if not I'll have the odd glass of wine or champagne. You've got to strike a balance. You should treat yourself once in a while.”
According to Alexandra Burke and trainer Don Klass it is about setting yourself realistic goals, adding in healthy eating and not cutting out and changing your eating habits too quickly. This will enable you to get healthier at a pace that suits you without the fear of backtracking because you made drastic movements.
That’s not to say that some hard work won’t need to be put in place but just add little and often changes to your periodic eating and exercise habits.
Here’s a small break down how she does it:
Breakfast
Alexandra kicks off her 9 meals a day with…
Porridge with skimmed milk, honey and fruit, or an egg white omelette
Lunch
Tuna or chicken salad with potatoes
Dinner
Roast chicken with vegetables
“I love Italian food and when I’m in the UK we always sit down as a family for a Sunday roast. I don’t have a sweet tooth but when I do have cravings I suppose I’m lucky in that I can have just a square of chocolate and it will always do the trick and curb the craving.
“I have the occasional glass of red wine as that is OK for my voice but I’ve never smoked.”
Burke-Workout
She uses a strength-building exercise regime 4-7 times a week
For toning:
Sit-ups
Press-ups
Tricep-dips
Squats
She uses kettlebells for resistance and cardio
“When I go to the gym, I normally do a good mixture of cardio and weights, finishing off with three sets of 30 tummy exercises, such as the basic crunch and holding the plank for one minute at a time, mixing them up all the time.
