I was with my man from the age of 15 to 32 and we broke up six months ago. I’m ready to start dating, but he’s the only guy I’ve ever been with. I’m worried this will freak out any new men – should I just make up some more boyfriends?

Tracey says: No!

The fact that you’ve only been with one man is nothing to be ashamed of.

It does, however, send a signal that you are more interested in a long-term relationship than casual flings.

If that’s not the case, you’ll need to make it clear by saying you’re not looking for anything serious.

Don’t lie – if you like the guy, you’ll spend the rest of your life covering it up. A lot of effort – and for what?
