After Twitter buzzed with speculation over the sex of the baby, a spokeswoman for Lara told to a UK newspaper yesterday: ‘We can confirm they have had a baby boy.’
David has since taken to Twitter to thank those who have sent congratulations, including his Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell, who sent the new parents a bouquet.

No further details have been given of the birth, but fans have already began speculating over what the pair will call their newborn… many hoping they might name their son ‘Simon.’
During a recent interview with Alan Carr, David revealed that he and Lara would choose a traditional name.
Speaking on Channel 4’s Chatty Man, David said: ‘It’s a bit of a curse if you’re called Apple or Peaches or something like that.
‘I think we’re just going to go with a normal name.’

The 41 year-old comedian added: ‘I’m really excited about it because I’ve been writing children’s books and you get to that age when a lot of your friends have kids and you start thinking, “When’s it going to happen to me?”
‘It’s lovely, it’s a wonderful thing. We were just thinking about it now we’re married and I’m quite old – I’m 41 – so I thought I better get on with it.’

David first announced he and wife Lara were expecting their first child last year on his Twitter page.
The comedian wrote: 'Some wonderful news. My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant. We are having a baby! It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier. Dx.'
The couple began dating in September 2009 and were married at London's exclusive Claridge's Hotel in May 2010, where they hosted a star-studded reception.
