Speaking to a UK magazine about his romance with the 23-year-old medical student, Pete admitted:
"I think in this industry people are expected to get married quickly, but I don't want to rush into it. I still believe in the traditional way.
Referring to his four-year-marriage to Katie Price, which came to a bitter end in 2009, he added:
"I know I haven't had a successful marriage but I still want to do my best to make it right next time.”

Pete, 40, is clearly taking a respectful approach to his relationship with Emily, who is the daughter of Peter's friend and former surgeon, Dr Ru, admitting:
“I'm not always sensible and perfect, but I just want to try and do things a bit more sensibly this time.
"Emily and I have known each other for years, but have only been dating for nine months and you need to be together for a reasonable period of time before taking that next step."
The Mysterious Girl singer appears to be letting his beau concentrate on her doctorate studies, and when questioned over a possible proposal date he replied:
"I don't know. I'm just conscious that she's got another nine months left of her university course. In a year from now, she'll be Dr Emily MacDonagh."

The couple appears to be making plans to move closer together, once his student girlfriend has finished her studies, with Pete adding:
"We're working everything towards us being together, but there are no concrete plans."
It seems Emily has gained some definite fans in the form of Pete’s children. The Australian pop star revealed:
"Junior still thinks Emily is his girlfriend and Princess thinks Emily is her best buddy.
"They're very attached to her, which makes it harder for me, because I want to make sure everything works out right with Emily because I know how close my kids are to her.
"I want to make sure we do everything correctly. She's a big part of their lives. They love her."
And Pete is still Emily’s biggest fan, gushing:
"I've got myself a loyal, sensible, beautiful and wonderful girlfriend.
"She's great in every way - a natural beauty."
