The retired footballer was spotted wearing just a vest and briefs, with a harness attached to him, as he clambered over the roof of the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, Shoreditch.

His half-naked presence excited residents in the area, who took to Twitter to express their disbelief.

One Twitter user tweeted: 'David Beckham is on the roof of the Truman Brewary. Cue all the girls running up onto the roof to catch a glimpse. #PrayForDavid.'

Another wrote: 'David Beckham is currently on the roof of my workplace IN HIS PANTS! And that's a tweet I never expected to write! :).'

The retired footballer on shoot

But, new pictures revealed today suggest he may have used a stunt double for some of his more dangerous moves on shoot.

Photos show a brunette male on the same shoot with the icon wearing the same underwear. The identity of Becks’ body double is unknown.

Is this the face of Becks' stunt double?

It comes after the H&M revealed that Beckham didn’t do all of his own stunts in his previous underwear ad – shot by Guy Ritchie – which shows him running through LA gardens in a pair of green undies in pursuit of his missing bathrobe.

The anonymous stunt man was seen filming on the roof of the building

After an online newspaper spotted that some of Becks’ famous tattoos were suspiciously absent in parts of the film where he is filmed from behind, a spokesperson for the high street chain was forced to admit that David had some help from a double.

They said at the time: ‘David was very involved in the advert including doing most of the stunts. Due to the tightness of his schedule a body double was used in smaller parts of the video.’

Becks' takes a break

Rather awkwardly, David had previously claimed he’d done ‘all’ of the stunts.

‘It was good fun playing an action hero for the day, getting to do all the stunts and ending up in unexpected situations,’ he said.

We’ll let you off then David, as long as you did ‘most’ of the stunts and the bum shots are all you…
