Naomi Campbell on her pre-catwalk diet: ‘I only drank juice for ten days’

As one of the first ever ‘supermodels,’ Naomi Campbell paved the way for a whole generation of models to follow her; but when it comes to diet, it seems that Naomi is taking lead from the likes of Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Miranda Kerr.

The veteran model has admitted that she went on a 10 day juice diet – famously championed by Rosie and Miranda - in preperation for a recent catwalk show.

Naomi, 43, who was walking for Versace for the first time in 14 years, said: ‘For ten days prior to the Versace show, I just drank juice – carrot, ginger, pineapple – to cleanse.’

The strict liquid-only diet was worth it when Naomi saw the reactions of the crowd: ‘I was quite stunned at the reaction – I remember the room being quiet and I thought, “Oh my God, they don't want me here!”

‘It was emotional for me to do the show after 14 years. When I did my fitting in those amazing clothes, it was just overwhelming,’ she told a UK magazine.

But apart from her recent ‘cleanse,’ the supermodel said she is not usually strict about what she eats.

'I don’t want to build muscle, just to tone'

‘I'm not extreme about what I eat,’ she said, adding: ‘I let chocolate and crisps come in at times. You have to allow the little things that make you happy.’

Exercise does play a key part in her regime however, and she credits her slender physique to yoga.

‘Since I had my operation on my knee [in 2012, after being reportedly mugged], Pilates has become very important,’ she said, adding: ‘I don’t want to build muscle, just to tone.’
