And with all the pressure of its previously massive success, John Lewis has pumped a massive £7million into this year’s nostalgic Disney themed ad.

The advert, which will debut during the X Factor break tomorrow and take up the whole slot, tells a touching story of a friendship between a hare and a bear.

The hare and the bear will experience their very first Christmas together- or will they?

The hand-drawn animation brings back memories of classic Disney films such as Bambi, and also shows the hare’s heartbreak at being separated from the bear when he goes into hibernation.

However the story of course has a happy ending, when the Christmas present bought by the hare- an alarm clock- wakes the bear up in time for Christmas day, ensuring the hare gets to celebrate with his best friend.

Lily Allen recorded a cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know for the advert, and a spokesperson said:

‘The story evokes the excitement of a first Christmas and the importance of friendship and thoughtfulness.’

Eek! We can’t wait for Christmas now..
