If you haven’t heard of her yet, Imogen is the leading lady in Zac Efron’s latest flick ‘That Awkward Moment,’ and she’s making quite an impression on the film industry in 2014. Oh, and did we mention she’s drop dead GORGEOUS. Here’s the roundup on our newest girl crush.
The 24-year-old British actress was born in West London on June 3, 1989 to parents Trevor Poots and Fiona Goodall.
Getting into acting
Imogen originally started out wanting to be a vet, but after fainting during work experience at the sight of veterinary surgery, realized it wasn’t for her.
After spending her Saturdays at an improvisation workshop at the Young Blood Theatre Company, Imogen decided to pursue a career in acting, deferring a place at the Courtauld Institute of Art in order to break into the industry.
Hitting the big time
Poots went onto star in Me and Orson Welles, Solitary Man, Chatroom, Jane Eyre and Fright Night within two years.
A busy year
2013 was her best year yet with Poots starring in Filth opposite James McAvoy and The Look of Love with Steve Coogan (which she won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Debbie Raymond, daughter of Paul Raymond, publisher and strip club owner.)
That Awkward Moment
And 2014 looks to be even busier, with rom-com That Awkward Moment coming out, A Long Way Down, Need for Speed and She’s Funny That Way. Phewf, and we thought we had our work cut out for us!
Her brother, Alex Poots, is a model, her mother was a journalist and her dad a TV producer. That’s one talented family!
Her unusual surname is apparently of Dutch origin, and is said to mean ‘leg’ or ‘paw.’
She's a scaredy cat
Despite appearing in several horror films including Chatroom and Fright Night, Poots actually hates watching them, saying in interview: ‘I’d kind of just stare at the television logo and blur my eyes and pretend I was watching but I wasn’t because I just found that I would take the movie home with me. I can scare myself like a pro. ‘
She loves animals!
She was once the adoptive parent of an otter at London Zoo. (He was called Harry.)
She loves the creative type
Apparently all of her ex-boyfriends have been ‘cerebral’ and ‘creative.’ Form an orderly queue boys!
