Caleb Acosta is a 15-year-old boy who, like many teenage boys, is desperate to have as many adventures as he can.

But, last year, Caleb was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and spine cancer. His illness makes life extremely painful - yet, according to his mum Cathy, the teen always has a smile on his face.

“My son is an amazing kid. So despite all his pain and all of his difficult situations that smile that you see, it’s always there.

"He always has it… He’s stronger than we are, no doubt.”

When the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked Caleb to make a wish, he had something very special in mind; he wanted to surf with Surf Dog Ricochet, a world-famous surfing therapy dog he saw on ESPN.

According to Ricochet’s website, she’s “the only dog in the world who surfs with kids with special needs, people with disabilities, wounded warriors, military families and veterans with PTSD as an assistive aid.”

And Ricochet was honoured to make Caleb's dreams come true.

Make-A-Wish flew the family out to California and Caleb was brought to the beach in a wheelchair, where he was helped onto the surfboard.

Ricochet, her tail wagging, immediately got to work granting Caleb's wish - and, as you'll see in this video, the teenager is a true natural when it comes to surfing:

Caleb said, after surfing with Ricochet, that he felt happier than he had in ages:

“I just felt almost normal, finally.

"It felt really good to be free, just me, not worrying about anything.”

And we're so happy to hear that Caleb has even bigger plans for the future:

“My goal right now is to eventually beat this cancer, and to tell everyone about it."

We wish him every luck in achieving his dreams.

Once again, we are awed by the amazing work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation - not to mention the beautiful job carried out by surfing dog Ricochet.

We hope that people continue to support them and allow them to continue putting smiles onto people's faces when they need it most.
