High school sweethearts Misty and Larry Schaffer have been married since 2008 and are the very definition of 'love's young dream'.
And, despite the fact his wife was a size 24, Larry never once mentioned Misty’s weight.
But when Larry, an Army specialist, was deployed for a year to Afghanistan in 2012, Misty decided to go a secret year-long diet, boost her body confidence and give her hubby a big surprise when he came home.
Speaking with American news site CNN, Misty explained: “I just sat in bed one night and was like, ‘I can do this.'
"‘I need to do this.’”
She carefully cut out junk food from her diet and used portion control to help herself safely lose the weight. And, slowly, the 5ft 6in mum slimmed down from a size 24 to a size 6.
To make sure her new look remained a surprise for her husband, she made sure to only post photos of her on Facebook from the shoulders up - and, when he returned home, the surprise was evident on his face.

The best part for Misty? Her husband was finally able to pick her up for the very first time:
“A lot of people look at it like, ‘Why is that such a big deal?’”
“But [when] you never thought you’d see that moment, that somebody can pick you up … it is a big deal.”
