The former Girls Aloud star, 32, is expecting her first child with long-term partner Justin Scott later this year, and admitted she was excited even before she became pregnant.
She told the Sunday Express magazine: “We’ve already started redecorating. In fact I was doing that even before I got pregnant, so Justin was like, ‘OK. You definitely need a baby. We’d better get on with it.
“Luckily, it didn’t take us very long to get pregnant, but I have nephews and many friends with babies so I know the rest of it’s going to be tough. But I also know the rewards are worth every bit of lost sleep.”
Singer Kimberley also revealed her former band mate’s reactions to her happy news.
“I expected Cheryl to cry when I told her I was expecting, and she did,” she said. “We’ve been close for so long and talked about babies many times, so the fact that I was actually telling her was a big deal and her reaction was so cute.”
And Kimberley’s already got a babysitter in the form of X Factor judge Cheryl. She added: “She’s already offered to have the baby overnight and says she’s going to get herself a Moses basket. I was like, ‘Hmm, we’ll see.”
It’s not just Cheryl who’s looking forward to the new arrival. Kimberley said: “Nicola [Roberts] and Sarah [Harding] are so excited too, and this baby is just going to be smothered with love.”
Kimberley will be the second member of Girl’s Aloud to become a mum, her other band mate Nadine Coyle, who gave birth to her first child earlier this year, a daughter called Anaiya.
