The warnings were issued after a man, infected with the virus, was allowed to fly from Liberia – where there has been an outbreak – to the bustling city of Lagos, in Nigeria.
Earlier today it was also confirmed two American doctors, who were treating victims of the virus, were infected with Ebola.
Ebola can be fatal in up to 70 to 90 per cent of cases. There is no cure for the disease.
It is thought that, although the risk to the UK is low, representatives from Public Health England are meeting with airports and the UK border agency to ensure they are aware of the symptoms of the disease.
Director of global health at Public Health England, Dr Brian McCloskey, confirmed earlier he had briefed David Cameron on the “acute health emergency” facing the UK.

“When these things start to escalate we work with everybody to ensure they are aware of what needs to happen,” he told the Independent.
The outbreak is claimd to be the biggest ever seen.
