His grandmother had the illness, his mother has it, and he was diagnosed with it himself five months ago.

The disease is “so, so f*cking scary,” he says. “You have no idea.”

Overwhelmed with emotion, the wedding photographer has taken to YouTube to explain why it's so important that the Ice Bucket Challenge has taken off — generating enormous awareness about the condition and millions upon millions of pounds in money for research.

He said tearfully: “I promise, your news feed will go back to cat videos and ‘Let It Go’ covers, but right now, the ALS community has the main spotlight. And for once in my entire life, I’ve seen it at the forefront."

His video comes as Pamela Anderson refused to take part in the charity fundraising craze, insisting she can't be involved after learning the ALS charity test on animals.

She wrote: “Sorry- I can't bring myself to do your Ice bucket challenge.”

“I enjoy a good dare- It's always good to bring awareness - in fun, creative ways. I don't want to take away from that…. But it had me thinking. Digging a bit deeper. I found that we may not be aligned in our messages.”

“So... I thought instead I'd challenge ALS to stop Animal testing.”

Pamela, 47, then pleaded: “Please, help scientists make real progress toward treating and curing human diseases by visiting HumaneSeal.org to find and support charities that never harm animals and which pour their time and resources into advanced, promising, human-relevant cures."
