CeeLo Green causes outrage by tweeting: ‘It’s only rape if person was conscious’

Singer CeeLo Green has landed himself in hot water today, after he attempted to define what rape is on his Twitter page.

The 39-year-old took to social media to make his views known, writing: 'If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH implies consent.'

'When someone brakes on a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof anyone was raped' he then added.

CeeLo later deleted the offensive tweet

CeeLo's comments just after he was involved in a court case for allegedly slipping a woman ecstasy without her consent in 2012.

Green's lawyers argued that he and the woman then had 'consensual relations,' despite the fact the woman said she woke up in bed next to the singer and had no recollection of what had happened.

He was sentenced to three years of probation on a felony drug charge - with no rape charges being filed due to a lack of evidence.

And although CeeLo entered a no contest plea, he added that this did not make him guilty. 'So if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?' the singer tweeted.

CeeLo later deleted the offensive comments, and his entire twitter account, although many users managed to screen grab his worst entries, including one that read: 'Women who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!'

The star is best known for his hugely succesfuly music career, as well as being a juge on The Voice.
