Dan Reed, director of the project, hopes that the film will highlight the 'lack of success police have in bringing about convictions and the shortage in resources that authorities have in monitoring grooming'.

THE PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS WHO TAKE THE LAW INTO THEIR OWN HANDS

The programme follows Stinson Hunter, who manages to catch predators by posing as young girls in online chat rooms.

In an effort to show how families of paedophiles are impacted by Hunter’s methods, Dan Reed also interviews the mother of a child whose father committed suicide after being caught by Hunter and his fellow vigilantes.

Despite controversy surrounding the way he goes about catching online predators (and the matter of his own criminal past) Hunter hopes that those watching the documentary will concentrate on the good that he is trying to do.

MOTHER-TO-BE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN PAEDOPHILE HUSBAND AND UNBORN BABY

He told The Guardian: “I hope that people don’t focus on me and the things I’ve done in the past. I want them to focus on what I’m saying and what’s going on and what your kids are doing online – given the current climate with Rotherham. I want change, I want the government to do something.”

SHOULD WE BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY?

Hunter has his own Youtube channel (with nearly 5000 subscribers) where he updates followers on his progress in catching dangerous predators.

Many have criticised Stinson's methods, saying that 'public humiliation' of men attempting to meet underage girls for sex is not the way to tackle the problem of paedophilia and online grooming.

According to a poll conducted by the Mirror following the program, 90% of viewers agree with the vigilante's actions.
