The pensioner was convicted after a jury gave a majority verdict of 10-2 at Southwark Crown Court.
The assault took place whilst Dave Lee Travis (real name David Griffin) was working on the Mrs Merton Show.
Described as an ‘opportunist’, the prosection also said the former DJ attempted to use his ‘charming and cuddly persona’ as a defence for his actions.

He was found ‘not guilty’ on indecently assaulting a woman whilst he appeared in a pantomime production of Aladdin in 1990.
The ex-BBC employee was also cleared of a similar assault on a journalist after the jury failed to reach a verdict.
Travis’ lawyer Sophie Wood said that she wood ‘seek to persuade’ the judge to grant a non-custodial sentence.
Judge Anthony Leonard QC told the court following the verdict: "You must understand that all my options remain open in relation to sentencing."
The 69-year-old left court alongside wife Marianne after the judge granted him bail.
His sentencing will take place on Friday.
