Speaking with Closer, size 28 Christina, who has never worked and rakes in over 20K in benefits a year, revealed that she can't afford to lose weight, insisting she needs more money from the government to afford a healthy diet.

She said: “I need more benefits to eat healthily and exercise and it would be good if the government offered a cash incentive for me to lose weight. I’d like to get £1 for every pound I lose. If the price of healthy food was lowered that would help too. I need help but I need it from the government.”

But, sitting down on This Morning to discuss her issues, Christina found a VERY unlikely ally in Katie Hopkins.

After telling Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden that she has struggled with her weight since she was six-years-old - something which was exacerbated by her epilepsy medication and the fact that she fell pregnant at 15 - Phil responded:

"A lot of people would say that you're making excuses."

But Katie, who has previously asked overweight people to take responsibility for their own bodies in the past, rushed to defend Christina.

KATIE HOPKINS: 'I'M SCARED I WON'T LOSE MY WEIGHT'

She said: "I've only put half my body weight on, but I understand the feeling of getting to the front door, ready to go for a run, and worrying people might call you names.

"I know how hard it is to be fat. There are no excuses for being fat, but there are reasons - what Christina actually wanted to say was that she wanted help.

"Weight is a psychological issue," she added. "Not a physical one."

Surprised by Katie's show of support, Phil attempted to question Christina about her demands for the government to give her an incentive to lose weight.

He said: "You don't have to eat organic food; there's no magic wand to losing weight, it is exercising more and eating less.

"If you can't do that, how will asking the government for a voucher possibly help you?"

But, before Christina could answer, Katie interjected: "Christina went to a doctor, didn't you? And they said your BMI was too high to help.

"There are groups where people go to lose weight - some people call them Slimming World, I call them Fat Busters - but they are less inclined to help people like Christina because she's too large. And it's expensive to join."

She added: "There's such an invisible population of overweight or very obese people because they're scared to go out the front door."

Phil, unable to contain himself, challenged Katie, saying: "You are an entirely different Katie Hopkins. I've never seen you be so warm, so caring and so supportive before."

Katie hit back: "I stand by everything I said, I wouldn't employ a fat person - but being fat is hard. It's on your knees, on your body, it makes it hard to get your breath.

"We all have a decent amount of humanity - and I've see the amount of aggression and abuse directed at Christina, but it won't help her to say 'eat less'."

Phil said flatly: "She will never get a voucher from the government," before offering to organise a dietician to help Christina in her weight loss quest."

He added: "You have to want to do it, I've had countless people who've walked through those studio doors who fail because they don't really have it in them."

Christina, clearly moved by her encounter with the This Morning team and Katie Hopkins, responded: "I eat too much and I move too little.

"I want to lose weight for my kids."

Katie celebrated Christina's sudden realisation, insisting: "Honesty is the best policy.

"All I have to offer you is enthusiasm, but I can bring that in bounds. Even if you can achieve one walk in your day, that's a brilliant thing - that's a brilliant thing - and it's free."
