Let's face it, the news has been pretty grim lately, so the announcement that Kate and Wills are expecting baby no.2 was a much needed reason to celebrate.

Come next spring, TV cameras will be firmly fixed on a hospital door again as we all wait for Prince George's little brother or sister to make their first appearance – and that day surely can't come quickly enough for poor Kate who once again is suffering crippling morning sickness.

Kate and Wills are overjoyed to be expecting again

At least Wills has been spared the nausea, unlike doting dad-to-be Harry Ashby – who has just become the first man to be signed off work with morning sickness after coming out in sympathy with his pregnant partner Charlotte Allsopp. Ginger biscuits all round.

Meanwhile, here at Closer our deputy chief sub-editor Carly Willoughby – now proud mum of gorgeous four-week old Felicity – has spoken about her own battle with Kate's condition, known as hyperemesis gravidarum. Being sick up to 20 times a day, she was hospitalised twice and never stopped feeling ill throughout her pregnancy. She can't imagine going through it again so soon and is amazed Kate's pregnant within a year of having George.

And in next week's magazine, we feature the heartbreaking story of Natalie Brazil, who suffered such horrific morning sickness that she lost two stone in three weeks and made the devastating decision to abort her baby. Thankfully, she went on to have a baby boy – now three – after enduring another terrible pregnancy. She says that if Kate is feeling anything like she did, she'll be "going through hell" and feels the utmost sympathy for any woman suffering this horrific condition.
