Amy Childs: ‘I’m scared to get back in my car’

Amy Childs has made her first public appearance since being involved in a serious car accident, though she admits that she’s still ‘scared’ to drive.

The former TOWIE star spoke to journalists whilst walking the red carpet at the MOBO awards in London, revealing that she is getting over from the shock of the accident.

She said: "I'm all fine. I'm lucky to be alive it was tragic I've had amazing support from my friends and family. It's very hard to talk about it, you don't wanna keep bringing it up.

"I'm here tonight and I'm lucky to be alive. It's quite scary because I don't wanna drive at the minute. I've gotta drive haven't I? But it's hard."

The 24-year-old says she’s ‘lucky to be alive’ after crashing her £140,000 Land Rover.

She said: “I can't believe how amazing my friends and family have been the past 24 hours, I'm so lucky to have the best family in the world.”

According to a source, it was a speeding car ‘full of young boys’ which caused Amy to swerve her vehicle and flip the car over, completely writing it off.

The insider told a UK newspaper: "The overtaking caused her to panic and hit the curb which spun the car over a few times before hitting a lamp post.

"Amy was pulled out the wreckage with a few bumps and bruises, she was checked by ambulance services, police breathalysed her at the scene and she was clear."

A spokesperson for the star said following the accident: "Amy is very lucky to be alive the car is a complete write-off. She is still very shaken but feels lucky to be alive."
