Closer’s columnist Nicola Mclean: ‘The McCanns got preferential treatment for being middle class’

Katie Hopkins has been at it again, passing controversial opinions on the McCanns- but this time I agree with her

Whilst I do think Katie Hopkins is so outspoken to provoke a public reaction, I have to admit that, I really do agree with her.

If I had left my kids alone like the McCanns, I would have been hung, drawn and quartered by the public

Clearly the McCann's are grieving parents and what they have been through is the most horrific thing that any parent could go through.

However, I would never leave my children alone to go even 100 yards away for a meal and if I had done and one of my children went missing, I could never look at myself in the mirror again.

Furthermore I would have been hung, drawn and quartered by the public and press because I'm not middle class.

TOWIE's back on our screens and I have to defend my friend Lauren Pope.

For a start, I have known Lauren for 10 years, since we were both glamour models and she has always looked amazing, just recently she has been looking especially hot.

I can't believe Lewis had the cheek to say "Who wants to date a 40 year old" to her, Lauren's good pal Vas Morgan tweeted a pic of her passport on her birthday that clearly proves she is 32.

TOWIE's Lewis doesn't deserve hottie Lauren Pope!

If I was a guy, I would proud to be dating Lauren Pope -whether she was 20 or 50. Forget having some easy slapper hanging off me in a Marbella nightclub!

It was also good to see Mario back where he belongs, at the heart of the TOWIE action, the last series definitely missed him.

This week has been an emotional one for me as my eldest son went off on a three day school trip, which meant he stayed away from home for two nights without any contact. I waved him off with a smile, but turned and walked back to my car in tears. Typical Mum!

I received flowers from a special someone

So as this is my last column for Closer Online, I thought I'd better give you all a little update as I've regained a bit of composure recently and stopped tweeting about my private life like a lunatic!

It's been a difficult few weeks but I can honestly say that in the last week I've remembered what it feels like to be happy.

I've started to enjoy life again

I've been waking up with a smile on my face and the smile was even bigger when I had the most enormous bouquet of roses sent to me this week.

Hope you have enjoyed reading about my antics over the last 4 weeks!
