EastEnders spoilers: Shock new twist in Lucy Beale murder storyline

When DC Emma Summerhayes (Anna Acton) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) arrive home and find Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) has been followed again, a terrified Lauren admits that she is worried it could be Lucy's killer.

A furious Emma then calls her ex-fiancé DS Brant and warns him to stop following Lauren, telling him that frightening Max's daughters won't bring them back together.

However, she is shocked when he admits that he is under orders from Keeble to keep a close eye on the Branning family as part of the investigation - something which Keeble herself later confirms.

Viewers already know that Max was having an affair with Lucy before her untimely death - but what else do the police think the Brannings are hiding?

Meanwhile it seems as if they're not the only ones with a secret, as Pam Coker (Lin Blakley) is set to become embroiled in the ongoing murder case.

When the florist worriedly tells her (admittedly creepy) undertaker husband Les (Roger Sloman) that Emma has been asking her about Lucy's murder, he immediately shows a new side to himself.

Marching over to Emma, he furiously yells at her to leave Pam alone - something which his wife later attacks him for, admitting it may cause people to dig a little deeper.

And if they do, she worries, they could find out what she did…

As EastEnders fans collectively let out a scream of "BUT WHAT DID SHE DO?" all over the UK, it's worth remembering that Pam's husband was involved in the false burial of Nick Cotton.

If he's capable of that, it remains to be seen what his cheery flower-wielding wife could get up to...
