A wanted man’s mugshot has gone viral after he taunted police by commenting on their Facebook page.

The 23-year-old New Zealander commented under Christchurch police’s shot of him, who were appealing for information on his whereabouts.

‘WANTED TO ARREST: Samuel Evan Lake has a warrant for his arrest’ the Police wrote, before giving users a number to call if they had any information.

Lake then taunted police under the post, quipping: ‘I need to get a new mugshot.’

Christchurch authorities were quick to respond to Sam’s post, writing: ‘Come see us and will arrange at no cost.’

An hour later, Sam replied: ‘If only they were as good at finding me as they were with comebacks.’

However it seems Sam has now been tracked down and arrested, with police confirming: ‘Thanks to everyone for their help locating Mr LAKE in Wellington tonight!’
