Jimmy, 36, and good friend Carl Fogarty, 49, were cut off from their campmates when they participated in the Shed Of Dread bush tucker trial, shown on TV last night.

Glamour model Nadia Forde and rapper Tinchy Stryder had been tasked with completing challenges in order to rescue Jimmy and Car, but had to turn back when helicopter pilots deemed it too dangerous to fly.

A source revealed to the Daily Star: "We didn't want to cause alarm, but there were real fears for them stuck out there alone.

"It could have gone horribly wrong."

The storm washed away roads leading to the spot where the challenge was taking place, meaning the pair - who had been separated from their campmates - were cut off from security and crew members.

Thankfully, despite the 80mph winds and lightning, that the pair were rescued and returned to safety by a team of specially-trained wardens.

But the traumatic experience has said to have caused former footballer Jimmy to have a terrifying panic attack, and he is now said to be considering quitting the ITV show completely..

The source explained: "Jimmy was talking about leaving the camp.

"He said he felt unsafe."

Thankfully I'm A Celeb bosses were able to assure him that the "typhoon-like" storms were unlikely to hit again.

But while Jimmy - who is favourite to win the show - ultimately agreed to stay, bosses are said to be convinced the current series is cursed.

The insider added: "First Gemma Collins quits, then Craig Charles has to leave and now there's this latest drama.

"What next? We've got 11 days left and now we're worried if we'll make it."
