A source told The Sun: “It is a cameo but she will be playing a character who isn’t connected to her personally.
“It will be Mel – but not as we have seen her before. It is fair to say there will be a lot of walking along the cobbles.”

And this won’t be the first time Mel has hit the Street. In 1993, before she rose to fame with the Spice Girls, she had a role as shop worker Amy Nelson.
Meanwhile her former bandmate Melanie C has insisted she doesn’t put on an act on The X Factor.
She told Yahoo: “I’ve only watched the first episode at the auditions but I know Mel is brilliant at it, I’ve seen her do it before. She’s just the right person to do it because she’s very straight.
“They’ve got a good balance because Louis [Walsh] doesn’t really say anything, Simon’s just Simon and Cheryl’s very diplomatic and then there’s Melanie, who just says it like it is.”
