The 41-year-old claimed that she'd been told her two children would be better off if she overdosed.

She said: "The person who's tweeting me telling me to go & o.d and do my kids a favour this Christmas. Please stop its really evil at this time [sic]."

Danniella, who is mum to son Kai, 18, and 12-year-old daughter Jody, then decided to quit the site altogether, revealing the death threats had become too much.

She said: "Coming off of Twitter as the constant abuse & people wishing mer dead is tipping me over the edge. Have a good Christmas all."

The former EastEnders actress last week revealed she's 'cancelled' Christmas this year, after money problems resulted in her losing her home. She and the children are currently living in a bedsit.

After being pictured shopping in Brentwood, Danniella was forced to admit that she'd not spent any money and had actually been given the items as Christmas gifts.

When a Twitter user suggested drug use was behind her money problems, Danniella hit back.

She wrote: "My divorce left me homeless cos all debt was in my name!! Not taking drugs ! So get your facts right you bully!! [sic]."

Danniella split from Kevin Jenkins, her husband of 13 years, in January this year. She soon started seeing cage fighter Tom Richards, 24, before confessing to relapsing and taking cocaine again in August.
