Mike Curtis, who worked behind-the-scenes on the ITV soap for 10 years, will be laid to rest after committing suicide aged 32.

The props man was apparently the life and soul off-camera, leaving all those who worked with him “stunned” by his death.

An insider told the Daily Star: "He has worked behind the scenes on the show for 10 years and was close to many of the cast.

“He was always laughing and joking. His death left everyone stunned."

Mike's funeral will take place within 48 hours of Anne Kirkbride, who died last week aged 60 after a battle with breast cancer.

A Street source said: "It is a terrible time for everyone on the show.

"Many did not know quite how ill Anne was and news of her death came as massive shock.

"To make matters worse it is Mike’s funeral the next day.

"Behind the scenes it’s as tough a time as anyone can remember."

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of both Mike Curtis and Anne Kirkbride at this sad time.
