Police have said that Kyle Norman was involved in a violent domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found her with a golf ball-sized welt to her forehead, cuts to her nose, and a blood clot in her eye.

She claimed that Norman had threatened to kill her, punched her, choked her with a scarf, and forced her engagement ring down her throat.

Eventually, she was able to escape to a neighbour's house, where she called police for help.

The argument was apparently sparked after the couple began fighting about Norman's drinking in the wake of his father's cancer diagnosis.

Norman is said to have gone peacefully with police officers when they arrived, and has been charged with aggravated assault.

He remains in jail at this time.

His fiancée, meanwhile, has been taken to Atlanta Medical Centre for medical treatment.

Kyle Norman found fame with R&B group Jagged Edge, who scored a number of chart hits in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

They are perhaps best known for their songs Where The Party At and Let's Get Married.
