When she left, the former TOWIE star promised to donate her fee to charity and today, she did just that.

Writing on her Twitter page, Gemma, 34, said “Pleasure to have donated my jungle fee to such an amazing charity” alongside a photograph of a letter from Save The Children.

It read: “On behalf of Save the Children I would like to offer my sincere thanks for your generous donation of £4800.”

As soon as she posted it, Gemma faced a backlash after some people commented on the amount she had given – she was rumoured to have been offered £100,000 – and some even accused her of not giving away the whole fee

“You did not get £4,800 for going in the jungle, sort your life out,” wrote one. Another commented: “No way you were only paid £4,800 for I’m A Celeb?! Bet you got £48,000 & donated 10% #con.”

But Gemma’s rep has hit backed and denied this, telling heat: “I can confirm that the £4,800 fee was the full and final fee Gemma received for her participation in last year's I'm A Celebrity. The show is three weeks long and Gemma was in Australia for five days, therefore she will receive a percentage based on that.”

From our calculations – she would have been getting £960 per day. We would have put up with the rats and the creepy crawlies for that.
