You're bored of conversations about your friends’ boyfriends… and your cat

“We went dancing at the weekend, what did you do?” “I gave my cat a bath.”

You’re sick of the word “WE”

“Do you want to go for cocktails tonight?” “Sure, shall we meet you around eight?” You can, I don’t really care what your boyfriend does…

This leads to third wheel hang-outs

Don’t mind me, I live to watch you kiss your boyfriend

What’s worse than all night PDA? Being stuck in the middle of an argument

I would literally rather be anywhere else right now…

If you do get her to yourself, it’s only because he’s out of town…

…and you can’t even be bothered to argue about it anymore

Having horrible thoughts about the boyfriend, because you just want things to go back to how they used to be

And immediately hating yourself for it

Missing out on invites

Because your coupled friends don’t want you to “feel awkward”

Or, better yet, getting pity invites

“We should ask to come, it must be so hard for her being alone on Valentine’s Day/at Christmas/on her birthday”

Being forced to watch your loved-up friends being so totally happy

And wishing you could scream when they ask, “Are you happy for me?”

Having to stop yourself from slapping them when they reminisce about the ‘good old days of being single’ around you

Yup, nights in alone with Netflix, Chinese takeout and my cat are the best.

Celebrating multiple engagements/anniversaries/pregnancies and regularly wondering…

Constantly having to explain yourself when your friends ask what happened to the guy you went on a date with last week

And almost being made to feel like it’s your fault you’re still single

But you do it all anyway because they’re your friends and you love them
