As previously reported, little Lily Groesbeck was found trapped inside her carseat after her mother's car crashed into a freezing cold river.

"All I know is it was there, we all heard it"

When police heard a woman's desperate plea for help when they found a car crashed into an icy cold river, they quickly sprang into action.

“We could see a person in the front seat and then we heard a voice saying, ‘Help me, we’re in here.’

"It was clear as day,” said officer Tyler Beddoes of the Spanish Fork Police Department.

But, when they managed to open the doors, they discovered that 18-month-old Lilly was the only person left alive inside the vehicle.

Her 25-year-old mother Lynn, whose body was in the driver's seat, had died the night before when she lost control of the car.

There is no way that she could have possibly called out for the men to help save her child.

“For two nights I've laid awake trying to figure out exactly what it could be. All I know is it was there, we all heard it,” added officer Beddoes.

“It was extra motivation.”

Bedoes and his colleagues braved the icy waters long enough to turn the car, which had been upside down, and pull Lily to safety.

The little girl, who had been trapped in the vehicle for 14 hours, was quickly transported to the shore, where first responders began performing CPR.

She later regained consciousness in a Salt Lake City hospital and has since made an 'astounding' recovery.

Her family have said: “She is smiling and laughing for family members. We're blown away by Lily's progress and so grateful to her rescuers.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for little Lily, to help fund her hospital bills, medical care, and future medical expenses.
