X Factor fans were left stunned yesterday when the show’s host Dermot O’Leary stepped down after 8 years fronting the ITV talent contest.

Since his announcement, speculation has mounted over who will be replacing Dermot’s hot Saturday night spot.

According to X Factor insiders, former Xtra Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack could be taking on the live show hosting duties this year.

The 35-year-olds have plenty of experience after working for the ITV2 spin-off in 2011.

A source told The Sun: "Simon has secretly met with Olly and Caroline. They're all fully on board."

They added: "Olly is very much the new Dermot. It's a huge coup because of his music commitments."
