Fans of the 34-year-old heiress will know that the chihuahua was Paris’ first and favourite dog, and she was by her side for 14 years.

Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Paris said: “My heart is broken. I am so sad and devastated. After 14 amazing years together my baby Tinkerbell has passed away of old age.

“I feel like I’ve lost a member of my family. She was such a special and incredible soul. We went through so much together. I can’t believe she’s gone. I will miss her & think about her for the rest of my life. I love you Tinky, you are a legend and will never be forgotten.”

Heartbroken Paris then shared a montage of happier times with Tinkerbell, showing off some of her beloved dog’s collection of outfits.

Tinkerbell had been with Paris since the beginning of her career, first appearing on our screens in 2003 during The Simple Life.

As we found out from Paris’ multiple reality shows, Tinkerbell’s home was an actual castle in the grounds of the Hilton mansion, she was carried around in bags that cost as much as a small car and she was showered with the kind of gifts we wouldn’t mind receiving ourselves.

In short: Tinkerbell lived the kind of life we can only dream of, and was an integral part of the celebrity culture boom over a decade ago that made us all obsessed with the lives of the rich and famous.

Which is pretty amazing for a chihuahua, isn’t it? RIP Tinkerbell, you will be missed.
