In extracts from her new autobiography Secrets and Lies, Sam admits that Joey plays up to the image of him as a ‘little boy lost,’ but in fact he was ‘angry and frustrated’ behind closed doors.

Sam and Joey in happier times

Describing the eventual breakdown of their relationship, Faiers describes how she had to end their union ‘for the sake of my sanity’ and that at one point she ‘didn’t know who he was any more.’

Sam also shed light on the devastating effect watching Joey and Amy Willerton hit it off on TV had on her, saying: ‘I had to watch on national TV as Amy Willerton found any excuse to touch him, do trials with him and rub suntan cream into his back.’

Joey and Sam got back together in March 2014, during which time Faiers was battling Crohn’s disease. But they split just a few months later, with Sam admitting she felt like a ‘minor thing’ Joey chose to pick up and drop whenever he felt like it.

Sam is now dating Paul Day

The 24-year-old now says that she feels their relationship was ‘by and large fairly toxic,’ and she has now moved on with ‘sophisticated’ Paul Day.
