Speaking with The Mirror, the mum-of-five emotionally explained: “When you lose a child, it is the most horrific feeling in the world.

"I lost my son 24 years ago. I’d gone to the midwife and I’d told her I’m not feeling the kicks properly and she checked me and she told me my baby’s heartbeat… the baby had died.

“Inside I just felt numb. I was sent home without my baby, with nothing, just sent home.”

Sue added: “I think a lot of the years, I’ve locked that loss [away] because I think with stillbirth, you think, ‘Nobody knew him, only I knew him’ but he was my baby."

The grandmother, who lives on the now infamous Kingston Road, recently spoke out to defend her neighbours on Benefits Street, insisting there are plenty of people on the Stockton Estate who are trying to find jobs.

Sitting down with Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden on This Morning, Sue explained that she used to work at the local racecourse but had to give that up after suffering a breakdown last year that has left her suffering from depression, anxiety and mild agoraphobia.

“My community helped me through my illness and there is no way I’d have coped without them, you will see how close we are in the show,” the 50-year-old said.

She added: “Most of us have worked or want to work. I want to go to work once I get myself right.

“But if there are no jobs out there for people to grasp, what can we do? You can’t live off fresh air.”
