Former Grange Hill actor Terry Sue-Patt has been found dead at the age of 50

Fans of Grange Hill are mourning the death of one of its best-known stars today following the news that actor Terry Sue-Patt has died aged 50.

The TV actor was launched into the public eye after playing Tucker Jenkins sidekick Benny Green between 1978 and 2008.

According to reports he was found dead on Friday and his cause of death is not known.

Police have told the MailOnline that they are not treating his death as suspicious.

Terry's family have been informed

The Metroplitan Police said in a statement: “12.42pm on Friday they were alerted to concerns for the welfare of a man in Walthamstow.

It continued, reading that at “13.44pm officers forced entry to a flat, and found the body of a man, aged in his 50s, inside the flat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.”

Terry’s co-star Robert Craig Morgan paid tribute to him in a touching blog post following news of his sudden passing.

He wrote: “Terry was a beautiful person, who I loved from the first time I met him. A fine actor,artist and a great soul, he will be so missed by those who were lucky enough to have known him. I will treasure forever my memories of my friendship with him.

“I’m devastated by hearing this, I send my deepest condolences to all his family and loved ones. God bless you Terry. You are legend my friend.”
