Frankie Barwell, who is the girlfriend of Manchester United player James Wilson, was targeted by Australian company ‘Odds Checker Au’, who suggested he could do better because of his job.
Sharing a picture of Frankie and James arriving at the football club’s Player of the Year awards, they tweeted: “Sure she’s a lovely girl but someone needs to remind James Wilson he’s a pro footballer. Start abusing this privilege.”
But, instead of letting their nasty post get her down, Frankie posted a cheeky response on Instagram.
Posing with her tongue out, Frankie wrote: “Remember, people only rain on your parade because they’re jealous of your sun and tired of their shade.”
Oddschecker AU, who have since deleted the Tweet, were immediately flooded with messages of disgust following their comments.
Twitter users labelled the person behind the tweet a ‘scumbag’ and ‘disgusting’, and called for them to be reprimanded.
The betting firm did post a short message after the backlash. It read: “Apologies for the offence caused by our earlier tweet.”
