After spending months in hospital for treatment and rehab, Clarence Blackmon came back to his house feeling weak and hungry.

911 Operator Marilyn came to the rescue

But upon realising he had no food and no way to get any, Clarence was forced to phone the emergency services.

‘I can’t do anything. I can’t go anywhere. I can’t get out of my damn chair’ he told Operator Marilyn Hinson.

Taking pity on Blackmon, Marilyn assured him she would get him some groceries - adding that all the elderly gentleman wanted was some cabbage, beans and beetroot, popcorn, tomato juice and a few soft drinks to keep him going.

‘He was hungry. I’ve been hungry. A lot of people can’t say that, but I can, and I can’t stand for anyone to be hungry.’

Hinson then personally went to the grocery store and put together some shopping, before delivering the food to Clarence.

‘It was like a little miracle ringing in my ear’ Clarence said. ‘I thought: “Jesus, you answered those prayers!”’

From now on the 81-year-old will have an at home nurse who will check in on him and make sure he has everything he needs, but thanks to the kind actions of Marilyn, he didn’t face starvation on his own.
