Pop group GRL split following Simone Battle’s tragic suicide

It's been confirmed that pop group GRL have disbanded following the death of member Simone Battle last year.

The 25-year-old singer was found dead at her home in West Hollywood last September, and a coroner later confirmed that she hanged herself.

There has been much speculation over the future of GRL since Simone's premature death, but today their managers Larry Rudolph and Robin Antin confirmed the news.

"Nearly nine months following the tragic death of band member Simone Battle, girl group GRL announces today that they are disbanding," they said in a statement.

"We wish them continued success in each of their next creative endeavours."

Band member Lauren Bennett took to Twitter to thank their fans, writing: "Thank u all for ridin with GRL thru the tough times.. I know it's all a bit confusing but I love you all, and care never forget [sic]"

Following Simone's death a spokesperson confirmed she'd been suffering from depression caused by financial issues.

GRL are best known for their hit Ugly Heart, which charted at number 11 in the UK a week after Simone died.
