Just last week, Amanda Waller was snorkelling off the shores of the Cas Abao beach in Curacao.

Accompanied by her husband, Allan, and several friends, Amanda - who is described as a very strong swimmer - was enjoying the sun-soaked excursion.

She signalled to her friends that she was coming back to shore.

But, 20 minutes later, she still hadn’t returned.

"No one could find her," Amanda's friend Terri Youngs told ABC 13.

"No one ever saw her come back ashore."

A GoFundMe account has now been set up to help the family travel to and stay in Curacao while search efforts are ongoing.

Writing on the page, Amanda’s friends explain: “On June 25, 2015 while snorkeling in Curacao, Amanda went missing from Cas Abao beech. Currently an extensive search is underway on both land and sea.

“Her husband, along with family and friends are currently assisting local authorities in bringing her back home.

“As this tragedy was completely unexpected the cost of remaining in Curacao is expected to become expensive.

“We are asking that whoever can please assist with defraying these cost and lifting this family up in prayers.”
