But for Lorna, 40, it was more than most as the bodybuilder was still bench-pressing 100kg when she was nine months pregnant.

Lorna, a firefighter from Scotland, admits she defied medical advice, saying: “My midwife told me to ease up on weight lifting but I know how to train safely.

"I wouldn’t have done anything to harm my baby but I didn’t want to lose my muscle definition so I trained for six hours a week and carried on lifting heavy weights.

“I got stares from men in the gym, but women told me I was inspirational.

"Quinn was a perfectly healthy 7ib 4oz baby and I couldn’t wait to get back in the gym after having her.

“It’s a manic lifestyle - I work 48 hours a week, do nappy changes, school runs and still find time for weights, but I love it and I never get tired."
