Following Anne Kirkbride’s tragic death, Corrie bosses have written beautiful funeral scenes for her on-screen character, Deirdre Barlow, who she played for years.
And Peter Barlow is set to return to join his father, Ken (William Roache) and Tracy (Kate Ford) at her graveside.
Speaking about his character’s return, Chris Gascoyne explained to Digital Spy: “He's got a job with a chartered boat company and he's about to go out for a stint in Antigua, so he has that bombshell to drop before he leaves.
"Simon's pleased to see his dad but he wants to come with him. We've had this quite a few times before and obviously he can't because Peter feels that Simon staying with Leanne and him not being there is more beneficial to his upbringing.
"Peter doesn't know anything about his recent behaviour to Leanne, but there are little bits when he sees Simon being rude to Leanne.
“He's been rude to her before, but maybe these incidents are a little bit ruder in a more aggressive and grown up way."
He also let slip that Peter will have a mini reunion with Carla (Alison King) - but wouldn’t reveal too many details about what happens there.
He said: "There is one scene between them where he sees Carla on the street, but you'll have to wait and see what happens.
“I think there's still something there for Peter, I can't really answer for Carla, but from Peter's point of view yes absolutely. She was his life for so long and he messed it up.
“It's always going to be there for him and of course if he could have it back, he would in a heartbeat."
Hmm, how intriguing - we do know that Alison King is planning on leaving the show soon, after all.
Maybe she might fancy disappearing into the sunset with her troubled ex?
Guess we'll just have to wait and see, won't we Corrie fans?
