Baron John Sewel, who was Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees at the House of Lords, can be seen in a 45-minute video snorting cocaine and consorting with sex workers.
The footage, released by The Sun, prompted his resignation from his position in the Houses of Parliament, with Lords Speaker baroness D’Souza branding his behaviour ‘shocking and unacceptable.’
During the video, Sewel can be heard telling the women that he wants to be led astray, adding that he fantasises about having sex with an asian woman, due to the fact they ‘look innocent but you know they’re whores.’
Sewel can also be seen snorting cocaine through a £5 note, whilst complaining about the rent on his £1,000 a month flat in Pimlico - a stone’s throw from the Houses of Parliament.
According to reports, the peer turned a photo of his wife, Lady Jennifer, face down before embarking on the coke fuelled binge.
Baroness D’Souza said in statement: ‘Today's revelations about the behaviour of Lord Sewel are both shocking and unacceptable. Lord Sewel has this morning resigned as Chairman of Committees,' Lady D'Souza said in a statement.
'The House of Lords will continue to uphold standards in public life and will not tolerate departure from these standards.
'These serious allegations will be referred to the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards and the Metropolitan Police for investigation as a matter of urgency.'
