Argentinian MP Victoria Donda Perez has had a boost in popularity after she decided to breastfeed her daughter during parliament.

The 47-year-old was in session when her 8-month-old daughter became fussy.

Rather than leaving her seat during the important parliamentary meeting, Ms Perez decided to breastfeed baby Trilce whilst in her seat.

Mothers up and down Argentina have praised the move, with campaigners claiming that Ms Perez has helped other breastfeeding mothers feel more comfortable about nursing their babies in public.

One follower wrote on social media: "When your baby cries, all you want is to calm her down.

"I admire her because many mothers leave their children at the nursery although breast milk is so much better than any food."

Another user criticised Ms Perez, claiming that she should have kept more covered up whilst feeding her baby.

She wrote: "All right, but she should cover her breasts with one of those special bras.

"You don’t have to wander around showing your boobs."
