And if you’ve stepped outside already today, you’ll know they’re certainly not scaremongering when they warn Brits to take care in the incredibly warm weather.

Predicted to be the hottest day in the British Isles in ten years, some parts of the Southeast will reach 36C, with Londoners positively melting in the heat.

The last time the temperature reached these levels was at Heathrow Airport ten years ago.

And while many of us will be celebrating the chance to get into a beer garden and bask in the sunshine, forecasters are issuing a level three heatwave alert in anticipation of the hot weather.

Vulnerable people including the elderly, young and people with heart and lung difficulties have been urged to stay cool during the heatwave, which could be dangerous for their health.

Meanwhile those heading to suntrap Wimbledon have been told officials will not be closing the court roofs to provide shade, with sports fans being told to ‘drink plenty of ware and apply sunscreen’ to beat the heat.

Elsewhere in the U.K., Manchcester and Birmingham can expect temperatures well over 30C, while the Southwest, Wale, and Northern Scotland can expect warm weather followed by thunderstorms.

Edinburgh, Newcastle and Glasgow will be hot but will also be hit by rain and storms later on, while Ireland on the whole will be around 10C cooler than London, with cloud and rain expected.
