According to Fox Latino News, Edgar Ivan Perez Alvarado had asked his wife, Dulce Requena Garcia, to wash and iron his laundry for him.

The 21-year-old refused, saying that she thought he just needed clean clothes to meet up with his mistress.

Resentful of her accusations, Alvarado reportedly called local police and reported that his wife was "causing a disturbance."

When police arrived, he told them that Garcia spends all of her time avoiding chores and binge-watching television.

However his wife argued that she hadn’t been keeping up with the housework because she had not been feeling well.

In the end, police wound up coming down on the side of Alvarado and charged Garcia for causing a disturbance.

She was unable to pay the disturbance fine of 400 peso (an equivalent of £16.29) and, somewhat unsurprisingly, her husband also refused to pay the fine on her behalf.

As a result, Garcia was sentenced to 12 hours in prison.

The couple have three small children.
