The 35-year-old used the same announcement to tell the world she has married partner Jacob Pechenik in a secret ceremony, as well as welcoming a daughter this week.
Despite only starting to date in the summer of 2014, things have moved pretty quickly for the actress and her producer partner, with Zooey announcing her pregnancy in January.
Later that month, Jacob popped the question on the actress’s birthday, and now a representative for the star confirmed she married Jacob in Texas on June 21st.
Staying mainly silent to the press during her pregnancy, Zooey did admit to Jimmy Kimmel she wanted to be surprised by the sex of her baby.
‘It’s more fun, you know? Make it into a game,’ she told the talk show host.
Deschanel was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard between 2009 and 2011, with their marriage breaking down due to ‘irreconcilable differences.’
