With just under 12 weeks to go until the festive period is upon us (we’re deadly serious - count them!), you may be wondering what’s set to happen in Weatherfield this Christmas.

"There is a chance Audrey could finally be lucky in love after years without a partner"

And it’s now been revealed that, in amongst all the usual doom and gloom, romance is set to blossom between Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and Ken Barlow (William Roache).

Yup, despite the fact that they only recently bid goodbye to Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride), love appears to be on the cards for the duo.

A show insider told The Mirror: "After the death of Deirdre, Ken starts to spend more and more time with Audrey and she admits to Rita she wants to be with him all the time.

“Audrey feels very mixed up because she feels there’s something between them but she feels guilty because Deirdre was her friend and she hasn’t long died.

"There is a chance Audrey could finally be lucky in love after years without a partner."

We have no doubt that Tracy (Kate Ford) will have some very choice words for her father about his decision.

Elsewhere on the cobbles this Christmas 2015, we’ll see the return of Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews), not to mention some disastrous news for the Connors and Roberts - courtesy of Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).

David (Jack P Shepherd), Sarah-Lou (Tina O’Brien) and Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) will also continue to be plagued by the spectre of Callum (Sean Ward)…

But there’s nothing like a murder to bring a family together, and their Christmas Day will remind viewers of the love they still have for each other.

And, finally, we will all watch with broken hearts as Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) decide to bring all of Lapland’s winter wonderland to Weatherfield, in a bid to make little Hope’s last Christmas the best day of her life.
